Research interests

I want to compute how waves propagate through a medium of finite size. If the wave reaches the outer boundary of the medium, it can not propagate further and different physical processes describe its interaction with the boundary. For example, acoustic waves, propagating in a room, are reflected at the walls. I am particullary interested in examples where the boundary of the wave medium can oscillate or carry a wave itself. The goal of my research is to find out if the algorithms for simulating of waves can deal which such examples and if they deliver precise results. My fields of research are:
  • partial differential equations with dynamic boundary conditions
  • numerical analysis of evolution equations
  • exponential integrators
  • numerics for wave equations
  • heat equations on evolving domains
